Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef short ribs flanken cut
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup green onions chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved and the marinade is well mixed.
  2. Add the beef short ribs to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the ribs from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off.
  4. Grill the ribs for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are nicely charred and cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  5. Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
