A delicious twist on a classic, this Cheesesteak Stuffed Garlic Loaf combines tender ribeye steak, sautéed vegetables, and melted provolone cheese, all encased in a buttery garlic bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of Italian bread (about 12 ounces)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise and scoop out some of the soft bread from the inside to create a cavity for the filling.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced ribeye steak and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the onion and green bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they are softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Return the steak to the skillet, add Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for another minute.
  5. Spread the softened butter on the cut sides of the Italian bread. Sprinkle garlic powder evenly over the butter.
  6. Layer half of the provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread. Spoon the steak and vegetable mixture over the cheese, then top with the remaining provolone cheese. Place the top half of the bread back on.
  7. Wrap the stuffed loaf in aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
  8. Let the loaf cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños to the steak mixture.
  • You can substitute the provolone cheese with cheddar or mozzarella for a different flavor profile.
